Up to 1980s, lots of Ayaş tomatoes had been grown in Ayaş and around Ayaş. Ayaş tomato is famous for its gorgeous aroma and thin crust. Incorrect seed getting and increase in hybrid seeds had decreased in the rate of Ayaş tomato production. As a result of this reduction, growing Ayaş tomato had been given up and Ayaş tomato seeds had been lost by the time.
A few years ago, Ayaşlı Grup researched to find Ayaş tomato seeds again. And he has found some seeds in a hope chest in Ayaş. After that, during 5 years, Ayaşlı Grup studied on these seeds to improve them and to make selection. At the end of this R&D, the seeds are registered by the Ministry of Agriculture and declared that it is the one of the selections of Turkey. Also, the gene mapping was studied and then approved by the government.
After 2017, Ayaş tomato seeds will be grown and produced under the trade mark by Ayaşlı Grup.
